A woman from Johannesburg, South Africa, is reportedly struggling after several foreign nationals who rented rooms on her property left the area amid recent tensions and concerns over possible xenophobic att@cks.
Neighbours said the woman had depended on rental income for years as her primary means of survival.
She had transformed multiple rooms on her property into rental units and earned enough monthly income to cater for herself and her family.
With most of the tenants now gone, the rooms have been left vacant and the previously lively compound has become quiet. The woman was reportedly seen crying as she spoke about the uncertainty she now faces.
"I never thought my life would change this quickly. The rent money was my only source of income.
Now the rooms are empty, and I don't know where to start," she reportedly said.
