The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has distributed rams and food items to Muslim faithful across Ondo State as part of activities marking the 2026 Eid al-Adha celebration, popularly known as Ileya.
The distribution exercise, coordinated by Ekunnusi Musibau, began on Saturday, May 23, and concluded on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The outreach covered several communities and Islamic leaders across the state.
Speaking during the distribution in Akure, the Chief Imam of Akure, Sheikh Abdul-Hakeem Yayi Akorede, commended the Minister for his continued support for the Muslim community. He noted that Hon. Tunji-Ojo had earlier distributed rice and other food items during Ramadan and had once again extended similar gestures during the Ileya celebration.
The cleric prayed for the Minister, asking Almighty Allah to continue to strengthen, protect, and elevate him in service to humanity and the nation.
Similarly, the Chief Imam of Owo, Sheikh Yunus Abdullahi Anola, praised the Minister for his generosity and commitment to the welfare of Muslims across the state. He recalled that the Minister also distributed rice and rams during the Ramadan period.
Also speaking, Alhaji Mohammad Isa Abubakar, the Chief Imam of Oka, stated that the Minister has consistently supported Muslim faithful with Ileya rice and rams since assuming office as Minister of Interior.
He prayed for continued divine guidance and blessings upon the Minister and his family.
In the same vein, Alhaji Muyideen Adetiloye, Chief Imam of Ifedore Local Government Area, appreciated the Minister for always identifying with the Muslim community during festive periods.
The Chief Imam of Odigbo also lauded Hon. Tunji-Ojo for his sustained generosity, noting that the Minister has made it a tradition to provide rice and rams during major Islamic celebrations. He equally offered prayers for continued success and divine protection for the Minister.
