According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, May 18, 2026, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano State and a prominent figure in the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), addressed a range of political and social issues during a two-hour media interaction held at his residence in Kano on Sunday.
The discussion covered topics including political betrayal, insecurity, education policy outcomes, and earlier political confrontations within the state and beyond.
During the media engagement, Kwankwaso expressed disappointment over what he described as a sense of betrayal from individuals who were once close political allies.
He referenced the strain that has developed within long-standing relationships in the political space, noting that such experiences have shaped his perspective on loyalty and trust in politics.
Responding to inquiries regarding comments linked to the current Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, particularly on the issue of political defections, Kwankwaso downplayed the matter.
He stated that the issue of defections and related political movements should not be given excessive attention, maintaining a firm stance on his position regarding internal party disagreements.
The former presidential candidate also revisited concerns surrounding the outcomes of educational support programmes implemented during his administration.
He remarked that some individuals who benefited from scholarships and other forms of educational sponsorship later took positions that were not aligned with the political movement that facilitated their opportunities.
