As Governor of Lagos, Tinubu had 3 deputy governors. The first was Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele who resigned after getting into fights with Tinubu. She then defected to another political party to contest for Governor but lost. Today, she holds no political post. Then came Femi Pedro who came in to replace Mrs Kofoworola. Femi Pedro wanted to succeed Tinubu as governor of Lagos but Tinubu preferred Fashola. This angered Mr Pedro who then defected to Labour Party to contest for governor and also lost. Today, he serves as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Australia, New Zealand, and the Oceanic States. Tinubu's last deputy was Abiodun Ogunleye who was appointed to fill the post till the end of the administration. Today, Ogunleye is an elder statesman and a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC).
Compared to Tinubu's turbulent deputies, Fashola's deputies were calmer. Fashola had two deputies that served separately in his first and second administration. The first was Sarah Adebisi Sosan who is now serving as Commissioner at the Federal Civil Service Commission representing Lagos. The second deputy was Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire who now serves as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals.
Akinwunmi Ambode and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu both had just one deputy governor. Ambode's deputy was Oluranti Adebule who now serves as the Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District in the National Assembly. Sanwo-Olu's deputy, on the other hand, is still serving as deputy and might be the next Governor of Lagos.
