Fresh controversy has erupted at University of Benin following the shocking killing of a part-time student near the university’s main gate.
Hours after the tragic incident, the Chairman of the institution’s Cult Renunciation, Reconciliation, Reformation, Rehabilitation and Interfaith Committee reportedly resigned from his position.
According to reports, the chairman, in his resignation letter, accused the university’s Vice Chancellor of allegedly ignoring earlier warnings before the deadly attack. He also claimed that threats had previously been issued against him by the VC.
The development has intensified concerns over security and cult-related violence around the university community, with many students and residents calling for urgent action to prevent further loss of lives.
Authorities are yet to officially respond to the allegations contained in the resignation letter as investigations into the killing continue.
