Obi Must Go Into the Bedroom with Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Adewole Adebayo - Nwaokobia

A video from Sunday, May 10, 2026, on the Arise News official YouTube channel shows public policy analyst Chris Nwaokobia threatening the Nigerian opposition, claiming that if they remain divided in the run-up to the 2027 general election, President Bola Tinubu will easily win with little to no opposition.

“The current trajectory of the opposition is historically familiar and dangerously self-defeating,” said Nwaokobia, a self-proclaimed neutral who is devoted to a movement he calls Project Vote Competency and Capacity. Likening it to the 1979 and 1983 election cycles in Nigeria, he said that incumbents have won time and time again due to a fragmented opposition.

The most significant hurdles to forming a strong opposition coalition, according to the activist, are people's ambitions, egos, and political self-interest. Media egotism and social media campaigns, he said, cannot replace long-overdue, substantive conversations among key opposition members.

With an eye on moving forward, Nwaokobia was forthright in his recommendation, stating, "Peter Gregory Obi must go into the bedroom with Atiku Abubakar, with Rotimi Amaechi, with Adewole Adebayo of the SDP."

He argued that the opposition's goals for 2027 are just that—aims—without such unanimity.
