My Registration To NDC Took Me 2 Days. The Delay Never Existed Until Obi and Kwankwaso Joined - Ogene

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has witnessed a significant rise in membership, according to Hon. Afam Ogene, who recently made the decision to join the party.

Speaking during an interview on Symfoni TV May 15, 2026, Ogene shared his personal experience as evidence of the growing interest Nigerians are showing in the platform.

Ogene revealed that after submitting his defection letter, which was formally read on the floor on Tuesday, May 5th, the registration process alone took him two full days to complete. He described this as a notable shift from what the process previously looked like.

He further attributed this change directly to the arrival of prominent political figures, Mr. Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, whose entry into the Nigeria Democratic Congress he believes triggered a wave of new membership across the country.

In his words, "I defected (to NDC). My letter was read on the floor on the Tuesday 5th of May and to even register it took me two days. I don't think that was the situation before Mr. Peter Obi and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso joined. So that should tell you, you know, the influx of Nigerians to that platform (NDC)."
