Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo South Senatorial District primary election after polling 33,399 votes to defeat other aspirants in the contest.
The former APC governorship candidate in the 2023 Edo State election secured a landslide victory over Senator Ned Imasuen, who recently defected from the Labour Party and scored 5,107 votes, and Engr. Ogbeide-Ihama Omoregie, who also joined the APC from another party and polled 12,560 votes.
The primary election, which attracted party faithful and supporters across the senatorial district, was conducted amid heightened political activities ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Party members described Ize-Iyamu’s victory as a strong indication of his popularity and influence within the APC in Edo South.
With the outcome of the primary, Pastor Ize-Iyamu is now set to fly the APC flag for the Edo South Senatorial seat in the next general election.
