The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for its third and final phase, beginning on May 11, 2026.
According to a press statement issued on May 5, the exercise will run until July 10, 2026, providing a final opportunity for eligible Nigerians to register ahead of future elections.
INEC recalled that the second phase of the CVR was suspended on April 17, 2026, to allow for the clean-up of the voter register after its publication for claims and objections.
The Commission urged citizens who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who missed earlier registration phases, to take advantage of the exercise to get registered.
It also advised registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct their personal details to either visit INEC offices nationwide or access its online portal.
As part of the process, INEC said the updated Register of Voters will be displayed for public scrutiny from July 23 to July 29, 2026, allowing Nigerians to raise claims and objections to enhance the accuracy and credibility of the register.
The Commission reassured the public that adequate arrangements have been made for a smooth exercise and called on all eligible citizens to participate actively in strengthening the country’s electoral system.
