UNIJOS students, staff among victims of Angwan Rukuba attack


Jos – Two students and a staff member of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) were among those affected by the Angwan Rukuba attacks in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Sunday, March 29, 2026. The attack claimed at least 28 lives.

The victims from UNIJOS are Patrick Ishaya, a 300-level Geography and Planning student; Abel Joro Gershon, a 300-level Building student; and Mr. Duguryil Ufialas Daniel, a Hall Officer at the Postgraduate Hostel.

On Tuesday, the Vice Chancellor of UNIJOS, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, visited the survivors at Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) to assess their condition. He was accompanied by Prof. Noel Wanang, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin, and Dr. Rosemary Anga, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs.

Prof. Ishaya said the three are responding well to treatment and commended the hospital management for their prompt and professional care.

“Thankfully, all of them are responding well to treatment,” he stated.

He appealed to the university community and Nigerians to continue praying for the full recovery of the survivors and the restoration of peace in the country.
