The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a proposed schedule of activities and timetable for its 2027 general election primaries, outlining key dates for the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants, primary elections, and appeals.
The document, signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, indicates that the process will begin with a notice of election to state chapters on Monday, April 20, 2026, while the sale of forms is scheduled to run from April 25 to May 2, 2026.
According to the timetable, the last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is Monday, May 4, 2026. Screening of aspirants for State Houses of Assembly, governorship, House of Representatives, and Senate seats is fixed for May 9 to 10, while the presidential screening is slated for May 23 in Abuja.
The proposed schedule places the presidential primary convention for May 28 to 29, 2026, with the exercise expected to be conducted through direct primaries across the 36 states and the FCT.
The party also fixed separate dates for other primaries, with State House of Assembly primaries on May 16, governorship on May 18, House of Representatives on May 20, and Senate on May 22, 2026.
A breakdown of the nomination fees in the document shows that presidential aspirants are expected to pay ₦100 million, comprising ₦30 million for expression of interest and ₦70 million for nomination.
For other offices, the fees are listed as:
Governorship: ₦50 million
Senate: ₦20 million
House of Representatives: ₦10 million
State House of Assembly: ₦5 million
The document also states that female aspirants, youths, and physically challenged persons will pay only for the expression of interest form and 50 per cent of the nomination fee.
The timetable appears to align broadly with the revised 2027 general election schedule released by INEC, which requires political parties to conclude their primaries within the approved legal window.
If adopted by the party’s National Working Committee, the schedule is expected to formally kick-start APC’s internal race for elective offices ahead of the 2027 polls, with attention already turning to the presidential contest and governorship battles across the states.
