General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, just delivered a no-nonsense briefing that should make every American stand taller and every enemy think twice.
“Over 500 feet long they displace 9,000 tons and it is the sports car of the United States Navy,” Caine said of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers now enforcing America’s blockade of Iranian ports.
These warships are no joke. “They stand nearly 10 stories tall and their four gas turbine engines can drive the ship at 30 plus knots.”
Armed to the teeth, each one packs “surface-to-air missiles, land attack cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, anti-submarine rockets, torpedoes, five-inch naval guns, multiple electronic warfare systems,” plus embarked helicopters that extend their deadly reach far beyond the horizon.
But the real power isn’t steel or missiles. “Far and away the most important weapon on board these ships is the American sailor,” Caine declared. “Over 300 warfighters are the heart and soul of these warships.”
This is what real strength looks like after Operation Epic Fury took out Iranian naval and missile threats. No endless nation-building, no weak rules of engagement, just American power projecting dominance where it counts, keeping sea lanes open and putting the mullahs on notice.
These young sailors, many barely out of their teens, are out there doing the job with discipline and skill that weak administrations could only dream of. Under strong leadership, the U.S. Navy isn’t apologizing for being the best, it’s proving it every single day.
