Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission has taken to his official X handle to react after Senator Godswill Akpabio declared that nothing was wrong with the viral tweet from INEC chairman, Joash Amupitan. According to his statements, he pointed out that the debate regarding the INEC chairman's alleged affiliation with the APC had been ended.
Professor Joash Amupitan, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), recently came under intense public scrutiny after a viral tweet allegedly supporting the APC resurfaced online.
However, the president of the 10th national assembly and former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio in a public statement which triggered massive public attention, defended the electoral umpire.
According to his statements, he pointed out that nothing was wrong with his comments which many had dubbed, 'victory is sure' tweet, allegedly in support of the APC from the INEC chairman.
Chidi Odinkalu, a respected human rights activist and legal practitioner in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, however, slammed the antics of the Senate President.
According to his statements, he pointed out that the remarks from the former governor proved that the allegations regarding the alleged affiliations of the INEC chairman to the APC were the truth.
Chidi Odinkalu, widely admired for his demands for good governance and accountability, pointed out that the INEC chairman by orchestrating the denial of the viral tweet, proved he was incompetent.
