Veteran actress Nia Long has opened up about her frustrations with modern dating during a recent appearance on the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast hosted by Keke Palmer, sharing that her current outlook leans more toward casual connections rather than traditional relationships.
Speaking candidly, the 55-year-old star explained that she still values intentional dating, but her expectations have become more defined over time. According to her, she wants consistency, effort, and emotional presence from potential partners.
“I want flowers sent to my house. I need consistency and effort. I need to feel chosen,” she said, emphasizing that she values being made to feel special in any romantic dynamic.
However, Long also noted a shift in her approach to relationships, suggesting she is more open to short-term or casual encounters than being involved in loosely defined relationships that lack clarity or commitment.
She added that while every woman desires to feel valued and special, her past experiences have shaped how she interprets love and intention today. In her words, she feels she has experienced meaningful relationships before, which now helps her distinguish between something genuine and something purely temporary.
“I know what good love feels like, and I know when it’s just playtime. I rather just have all the fun than be in a casual relationship” she explained, adding that she is now more open to embracing lighter, non-serious connections when appropriate.
