Nigerian music superstar Davido has been appointed as Head of Youth Mobilisation for the campaign council of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The announcement, which quickly gained traction across social media, was made by Davido himself, who expressed excitement about supporting his uncle’s bid for a second term under the Accord Party.
“I have been appointed by the Governor of Osun State… as Head of Youth Mobilisation of the Campaign Council. We look forward to a smooth campaign and your re-election, Your Excellency! 4+4,” the singer posted online.
The “4+4” slogan reflects support for Governor Adeleke completing a second four-year term, potentially extending his leadership to eight years in office.
Governor Adeleke, who previously governed under the Peoples Democratic Party before defecting to the Accord Party in 2025, is currently campaigning on his administration’s record in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment.
He has also promised to expand on his Five-Point Agenda with a renewed focus on job creation and economic growth.
Davido’s involvement is widely seen as a strategic move to connect with young voters across Osun State. With a massive fan base both locally and internationally, the Afrobeats star is expected to play a key role in energising youth participation ahead of the polls.
Political observers note that his appointment adds a strong entertainment and youth-driven dimension to the campaign, with early reactions online showing enthusiasm among supporters.
The Osun State governorship election is scheduled for August 15, 2026, as campaigns begin to intensify across the state.
