The United States has fully ended its 12-year military presence in Syria. The last American convoy rolled out of Qasrak base in northeastern Hasakah province today, handing the site over to Syrian army control.
Qasrak was the largest and final U.S. outpost in the country, part of the anti-ISIS mission that started back in 2014. After a phased drawdown that kicked off in February, U.S. forces and equipment have now redeployed toward Iraq or Jordan.
No more endless nation-building. No more American boots on the ground propping up unstable alliances in a chaotic region. Time to focus on real threats at home and stop bleeding treasure abroad.
