2027: Rep Seat Must Be Retained in Ose – Local Government Leaders Demand Equity and Fairness

The attention of concerned Leaders across Ose Local Government has been drawn to the ongoing political conversations surrounding the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, particularly the agitation over the zoning and representation of the House of Representatives seat. After careful consideration of the prevailing realities, we strongly assert that, in the interest of fairness, balance, and equity, the House of Representatives seat must be retained in Ose Local Government.

It is a matter of public record that the immediate past Governor of Ondo State hails from Owo, and presently, the Deputy Governor is also from Owo. In addition, several influential cabinet positions and political appointments are predominantly occupied by individuals from Owo. In contrast, Ose Local Government is left with only a commissioner and lacks any significant federal appointments. This imbalance raises legitimate concerns about equitable distribution of political opportunities within the constituency.

We emphasize that this call is not borne out of division, but from a sincere desire to promote inclusiveness, fairness, and a sense of belonging among all stakeholders within the federal constituency. Democracy thrives when every segment feels represented and carried along. Retaining the House of Representatives seat in Ose will help correct existing imbalances and reinforce unity within Owo/Ose Federal Constituency.

We therefore call on party stakeholders, and decision-makers to act in the spirit of justice by ensuring that Ose Local Government is given the opportunity to produce the next representative. This is not just a political demand; it is a call for fairness, recognition, and sustainable peace within our constituency.

Signed:
Concerned Ose Leaders
22nd April 2026.
