Suspected Bandits Kill 32 Farmers in Niger Communities

At least 32 farmers have been reportedly killed following coordinated attacks by suspected bandits on the Tugan-Makeri, Konsoko and Pissa communities in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The assaults, which targeted rural farming settlements, have heightened fear among residents and renewed concerns about security in agrarian areas where livelihoods depend largely on daily access to farmlands.

Locals said the attacks occurred in quick succession, suggesting a coordinated operation that left many families grieving and others fleeing to safer locations.

Residents described the incident as one of the deadliest in recent times for the area, warning that continued insecurity could disrupt farming activities and worsen food shortages. Community leaders appealed to authorities to urgently deploy security personnel and strengthen patrols to prevent further attacks.

As of press time, there was no official confirmation from security agencies, while efforts were reportedly ongoing to assess the full scale of the damage and restore calm to the affected communities.
