The Kano State Government has said there is no plan to remove Muhammadu Sanusi as the Emir of Kano.
Governor Abba Yusuf dismissed rumours making the rounds, saying there is no agreement or intention to unseat the Emir.
The clarification was given by the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature, who described the reports as false and misleading.
He explained that Emir Sanusi was properly appointed after the emirate law was repealed, and there are no plans to change the law or replace him.
According to the government, political movements or party defections will not affect Sanusi’s position.
Emir Sanusi remains the Emir of Kano.
