A nursing student has been detained following the dæth of an alleged lecturer from Federal Poly Bida in Minna, Niger State.
The Niger State Police Command has arr£sted nursing student Stella Joseph in connection with the unexpected dæth of Otori Abdulfatai Aiyede, a lecturer at a higher education institution in Niger State.
It was reported that on January 27, 2026, the decæsed lecturer traveled from Bida to Minna and visited Stella Joseph at her home on Niteco Road, Tunga, to introduce himself.
During this visit, he was reportedly served a meal of spaghetti and egg.
Shortly after consuming the food, he all£gedly convulsed, collaps£d, and was taken to the General Hospital in Minna, where he was pronounced dæd upon arrival.
Some reports claimed he was a lecturer at Newgate University, Minna, but the institution’s management has denied this.
However, reliable information from DAILY POST indicates that he was a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that on January 27, 2026, around 10:00 a.m., police received a report that Abdulfatai Aiyede had come to Minna from Bida to visit a friend named Stella Joseph.
He stated that during the visit, Stella allegedly served the victim food, after which he convulsed and passed away.
