Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has publicly disputed claims attributed to former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai regarding the abduction of activist Dadiyata, insisting the incident had no connection to Kano State.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Sani stated that Dadiyata is from Kaduna State, lived in Kaduna with his family, and was abducted from his residence in the Barnawa neighbourhood of Kaduna on August 1, 2019. He emphasized that Dadiyata was a vocal critic of the Kaduna State Government and Governor, not of Kano State or its former governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Sani noted that Dadiyata’s whereabouts have remained unknown since the abduction, adding that there was no official statement from the Kaduna State Government and no formal visit to the family. He further alleged that, following the incident, fear pervaded Kaduna, with residents, the police, and even the State House of Assembly reluctant to speak publicly about the case.
According to the former senator, Dadiyata’s family is still in Kaduna and available to anyone seeking first-hand accounts of the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
In a related allegation, Sani claimed that Islamic cleric Sheikh Bello Yabo was abducted from Sokoto and taken to Kaduna in 2020 for criticizing the Kaduna State Governor, urging the public to verify the claim.
