Media personality and businessman Isaac Fayose has stirred fresh controversy online following remarks he made about Igbo leaders and the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu.
In a viral video, Fayose questioned what he described as a lack of strong support from prominent Igbo figures for Kanu’s release.
“My wife is Igbo, so I’m partly Igbo. Igbos are the most greedy Nigerians,” he said, alleging that influential voices in the region have not done enough.
He compared Kanu’s situation to that of Sunday Igboho, who has since returned to Nigeria, and also referenced Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi while discussing national security debates.
Fayose specifically called out nightlife entrepreneur Obi Cubana, criticizing him for publicly associating with President Bola Tinubu instead of advocating for Kanu’s freedom.
He further claimed that many Igbo politicians occupy key positions of influence yet have failed to rally collective support. According to him, only Peter Obi visibly aligned with protest actions concerning the issue.
The comments have since generated heated reactions across social media, with many describing the remarks as divisive, while others argue they reflect ongoing frustrations surrounding Kanu’s prolonged detention.
