A woman aged 18 has reportedly attacked her 25-year-old husband with a knife, causing a severe injury to his genital area.
The event took place yesterday in Potiskum town.
This was confirmed in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, which was released on Saturday, noting that the suspect, Khadija Jamilu, remains at large.
"After receiving the report, police officers quickly arrived at the scene and transported the victim to the State Specialist Hospital in Potiskum for immediate medical care.
"He was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Azare, where he is currently being treated," stated SP Abdulkarim.
He mentioned that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect who is on the run, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
In the statement, Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, condemned the act, emphasizing that marriage should be founded on mutual respect, understanding, patience, and tolerance.
He also highlighted that marriage should never serve as a platform for violence, abuse, or humiliation.
