The 2026 edition of the annual Ramadan Football Challenge in Jos north LGA witnessed a turnaround with Hon. Alexander Davou Gyang, coming in as a co-sponsor to build bridges of unity among communities in Jos north local government area, and also engaging the youths to be productive by showcasing their talent.
At the ceremonial kickoff, Hon. Alex Gyang, represented by his media team, appreciates the organisers of the grassroots football challenge in Gangare, headed by coach Jibril Sa'ad, and promises to be partners in progress so long as it will promote peaceful coexistance, unity and progress to the locality.
The opening match saw Gimbiya Football Academy beating FC Planners by 2-1, while Independent Football Academy will play Promising Football Academy on the second day of the competition.
The football tournament which promises to be entertaining and engaging among the youths of Jos North, will run through the Ramadan period, with the finals schedule for sallah day.
The GSS Gangare football field is hosting all the participating sixteen (16) teams in Jos north, playing a total number of thirty two (32) matches.
Alhaji Sani Usman and Suleiman Salihu, both part of the organizing committee members, appreciates Hon. Alex Davou Gyang for identifying with the community through sports partnership, which demonstrates the spirit of togetherness irrespective of tribe, or religion.
The opening ceremony witnessed a high turnout of spectators and soccer lovers within Jos north LG.
