The Federal Ministry of Health has just dropped a major move! 🚨 All directors who’ve spent 8+ years in the directorate—across the ministry, federal hospitals, and agencies—are to step down immediately.
According to a memo by Tetshoma Dafeta, Director at the Office of the Permanent Secretary:
“All affected officers as of Dec 31, 2025, must be disengaged immediately. Hand over documents, stop salaries, and refund any overpaid emoluments.”
This follows the 8-year tenure rule under the Revised Public Service Rules (PSR 2021). Permanent secretaries have a 4-year limit (renewable if performance is solid), and directors must retire after 8 years.
Heads of agencies and parastatals are now on notice—officials from the Office of the Head of Civil Service and the Ministry of Health will monitor compliance. ⚠️ Non-compliance could attract stiff sanctions.
