FG Raises Alarm Over Fake Foreign Job Offers Linked to Wars

The Federal Government has warned Nigerians to be careful of fake recruitment offers that may push them into fighting in foreign wars.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said some Nigerians are being tricked with promises of high-paying jobs, security work, scholarships, and fast-track travel abroad. However, many of these offers are fake and dangerous.

According to the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, some victims are forced to sign military contracts written in foreign languages. After arriving in those countries, their travel documents are seized and they are sent to conflict zones.

The government said these actions can put lives at risk and may break Nigerian and international laws.

Reports also show that recruiters lure people with big salary promises, signing bonuses, and even offers of foreign citizenship. Some middlemen arrange travel using tourist visas, hiding the real purpose of the trip.

The Federal Government said it is working to stop these illegal activities. Nigerian embassies abroad have been told to stay alert and guide citizens properly. Authorities are also working with international partners to track down those behind the recruitment networks.

Parents, guardians, and community leaders have been advised to educate young people about these dangerous schemes.

Nigerians are encouraged to always confirm job or study offers through official government channels and report any suspicious activity.
The government stressed that it remains committed to protecting Nigerians both at home and abroad.
