El-Rufai Share Letter Written To NSA About His Office Importing An Odourless, Colourless Poison

Former Kaduna State governor Nasir Ahmad El Rufai has stirred national attention after releasing a letter he wrote to Nigeria’s security leadership over an alleged importation of a deadly substance.

According to reports, El Rufai disclosed on X that he formally wrote to Nuhu Ribadu seeking clarification on reports that the Office of the National Security Adviser imported about ten kilograms of thallium sulphate. He described the substance as an odourless and colourless poison that poses serious danger to public safety.

In the letter dated January 30 2026, El Rufai said his inquiry was based on information available to opposition leaders and was done in good faith. He requested details on the purpose of the chemical, its source, permits used, storage plans, and safety measures.

He also asked whether agencies like NAFDAC and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control were involved.
