The drama surrounding Mohbad’s legacy just took another major turn.
A Lagos High Court in Ikorodu has ruled that three separate DNA tests must be carried out abroad to finally determine the paternity of baby Liam — the son of the late singer, Mohbad.
This comes as the legal battle between Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, and the singer’s widow, Wunmi, intensifies over claims about Liam’s biological father.
Remember: Mohbad passed away on September 27, 2023, under circumstances that sparked nationwide outrage and nonstop public attention. Since then, conversations around his estate, justice, and now paternity have refused to die down.
At Tuesday’s hearing (Feb 3), Joseph Aloba’s lawyer revealed that the court asked both sides to submit three foreign DNA labs capable of conducting tissue-based testing — not just cheek swabs.
From the submissions, the court will pick:
• One lab from Wunmi’s list
• One from Aloba’s list
• And a third, fully independent lab

Joseph Aloba has continued to insist that Mohbad will not be buried until Liam’s paternity is fully and scientifically confirmed.
The case has now been adjourned to February 10.
