According to a report by the U.S. newspaper Axios, which revealed information from a secret discussion with senior U.S. security officials, Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister, Prince Khalid, called on the United States to strike Iran.
Prince Khalid reportedly said that attacking Iran was the solution, warning that if the U.S. failed to do so, it would be seen as a humiliation in the eyes of the world.
This statement contrasts with Saudi Arabia’s public stance, which has been to warn against escalating conflicts in the Middle East.
It also comes after Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) expressed his concerns to former U.S. President Donald Trump three weeks ago a warning that reportedly influenced Trump’s decision to delay any military action.
