The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of 431 mobile phones to the Federal Government of Nigeria. The devices were seized during investigations into an extensive cyber-fraud network operated by convicted Chinese nationals and their local recruits in Lagos.
On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Justice Dehinde Dipeolu ruled that the 431 mobile phones be permanently forfeited. The application was brought forward by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) through its counsel, Hannatu Kofarnaisa.
The court had previously granted an interim forfeiture order on July 8, 2026. The EFCC published a public notice in The Guardian newspaper on August 11, 2026, giving any interested parties a statutory window to claim the devices. Since no entity came forward to contest it, the final forfeiture was granted.
