The United States has agreed to pause planned att@cks on Iran after what President Donald Trump described as the "perimeters of a deal" were reached, raising hopes for a possible de-escalation of the conflict.
In a post shared on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump said Iran and several Middle Eastern countries had requested that the U.S. suspend military action while negotiations continue.
He wrote:
"We have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any att@ck in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to. This would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat."
Trump added that the U.S. had been "locked and loaded and ready to go" but agreed to halt the planned strikes while efforts are made to reach a final agreement.
"Get to work, everybody, and get it DONE," he wrote, adding that Israel had joined the U.S. in supporting the pause.
The announcement came as the U.S. State Department issued a fresh security advisory urging Americans across the Middle East to consider leaving the region or be prepared to depart at short notice due to escalating tensions.
The advisory warned of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures, and other travel disruptions, encouraging U.S. citizens to exercise heightened caution and reconsider non-essential travel throughout the region.
The warning was distributed through U.S. embassies in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti Army announced on Saturday that its air defense systems intercepted drones launched from Iran.
"Kuwaiti air defenses are currently engaging hostile drone att@cks following the Iranian aggression. The General Staff of the Army notes that any explosions heard are a result of air defense systems intercepting the hostile att@,cks," the army stated.
The latest developments follow confirmation from the U.S. military that it carried out a heavy wave of strikes against Iran earlier this week. Reports also indicated that Trump had recently threatened additional military action as the conflict continued to intensify.
The war, now in its sixth month, has fueled concerns over regional stability, disrupted global energy markets, and contributed to rising oil and fuel prices worldwide.
Although the U.S. and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding in June aimed at paving the way for peace talks, fighting resumed in early July after Trump declared the ceasefire to be over.
