Vice President Mutale Nalumango has assured Zambians that she and the seven other passengers aboard a plane that crashed shortly after take-off are safe, although she has suffered psychological trauma.
Preliminary information indicates that the aircraft went down approximately 50 metres above the ground moments after take-off.
The Vice President was scheduled to travel to Isoka District for another rally as part of her ongoing working tour of Muchinga Province, which began on Sunday.
And secretary to the cabinet, Patrick Kangwa has commended the flight crew and emergency responders, whose professionalism was on clear display, and thanks the people of Nakonde for their swift assistance.
Kangwa says the relevant authorities will establish the circumstances of the incident in the normal
way.
