EASE Agenda: Owo Local Government Chairman, Hon Tope Omolayo Empowers 100 Residents, Distributes Fertilizers to Farmers


As part of efforts to deepen the impact of the EASE agenda of the Ondo State Government at the grassroots, the Chairman of Owo Local Government Council, Hon. (Elder) Tope Omolayo, has empowered no fewer than 100 residents comprising elderly people, youths and women with financial support.


The empowerment programme, held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the newly renovated Mapo Town Hall, Owo, also featured the distribution of fertilizer to selected farmers across the 11 political wards of the council area.


The initiative is aimed at providing immediate economic support to vulnerable residents while strengthening agricultural activities and improving the livelihood of farmers across Owo Local Government.


Speaking at the event, Hon. Omolayo expressed appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for what he described as his commitment to making the benefits of government policies and programmes felt by residents across the state.


According to the council chairman, the empowerment and agricultural support initiatives are in line with the Governor's EASE agenda and reflect the administration's determination to improve the welfare and economic well-being of residents across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.


Hon. Omolayo urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the financial assistance and fertilizer provided, stressing that the intervention was designed to create meaningful impact in the lives of the people.


He also appealed to residents who were not captured among the beneficiaries of the latest exercise to remain patient, assuring them that the empowerment programme would be sustained as a continuous initiative.


The event was attended by the wife of the council chairman, Princess Temilade Omolayo; the Chairmen of Ijebu and Iyere LCDAs, Hon. Lawanson Agilagila and Hon. Samuel Olusola Ogundele; the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Olanrewaju Oladimeji; councillors from various wards, including Hon. (Pastor) Aladenusi Joshua, Hon. Adekunle Olaniran, Hon. Olaniyi Ogumolawa and Hon. Fagbamila Stephen Kehinde; supervisors, special advisers and other government functionaries.

Also present was the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mr. Taiwo Aladesuyi.


Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Hon. Omolayo and Governor Aiyedatiwa for the intervention, describing the support as timely and beneficial to their families, businesses and farming activities.


The beneficiaries particularly commended the council chairman for extending the initiative to different categories of residents and called for the sustenance of programmes that directly improve the economic conditions of people at the grassroots.


This intervention further underscores the importance of translating government policies into practical programmes capable of reaching ordinary citizens and strengthening livelihoods across local communities.
