President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a major expansion of Nigeria’s road infrastructure, extending the Fourth Legacy Highway by an additional 400 kilometres, increasing its total length from about 700km to approximately 1,100km.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, also announced the President’s approval for:
* Reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with reinforced concrete pavement.
* Completion of the long-abandoned Ibi Bridge in Taraba State.
* Construction of the 5.76km Lau Bridge.
* Dualisation of an additional 400km of the East-West Road.
According to Umahi, the projects are part of the Federal Government’s infrastructure renewal programme aimed at improving national connectivity, boosting economic growth, facilitating trade, and enhancing regional integration.
The administration says the approvals reflect President Tinubu’s commitment to delivering transformative infrastructure projects across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
