AWKA, Nigeria – Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), has celebrated the maiden graduation ceremony of Millennium College of Nursing Sciences in Awka, Anambra State, describing investment in education and healthcare as among the most reliable investments in Nigeria’s future.
Obi, who attended the institution’s inaugural graduation ceremony, said he was particularly delighted to learn that the initial support he provided served as seed funding that enabled the college to commence operations.
According to him, subsequent interventions also contributed significantly to the institution’s ability to reach the milestone of graduating its pioneer students.
He said the college graduated 116 pioneer students, all of whom reportedly achieved a 100 percent success rate in the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Professional Examination.
“What gave me the greatest joy and fulfilment was learning from the Provost, Mrs Chisom C. Ezulike, that the initial support I provided served as the seed funding enabling the institution to commence operations seamlessly,” Obi said.
He described the development as an example of how modest investments in education can grow into institutions capable of transforming lives and strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system.
Obi congratulated the pioneer graduating Class of 2025, while commending the proprietor, management, faculty, benefactors and others whose contributions helped make the graduation possible.
He called for sustained investment in education, healthcare and human capital development, saying they remain critical pathways to national progress and sustainable development.
“A New Nigeria is POssible,” Obi added.
