Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has commissioned the state's second Smart School at Umuomaiukwu in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, describing it as a major investment in the future of Abia's children.
Speaking at the ceremony on Tuesday, July 22, Governor Otti encouraged pupils to remain hardworking and dedicated to their studies, assuring them that the government has provided all the necessary tools for academic success at no cost.
He said the Smart School is equipped with modern learning facilities, including artificial intelligence, virtual reality, adaptive learning technologies, 24-hour internet access, renewable energy, CCTV surveillance, and a wellness room for girls. Outstanding students, he added, would be rewarded with local and international scholarships.
Governor Otti also warned against vandalism of public school facilities, stressing that offenders would face the full wrath of the law. He reaffirmed that education remains central to his administration's development agenda.
Renowned scholar Professor Okey Ndibe, who attended the event, praised the initiative, describing it as a transformative investment that will prepare Abia's children for a globally competitive future.
