Police in Benghazi, Libya, have dismantled an alleged illegal medical operation following the arrest of a Nigerian woman accused of converting a residential property into an unauthorized delivery and ab0√tion clinic.
According to police reports, the suspect allegedly used the private residence to carry out covert medical procedures, including unauthorized childbirth services and illegal pregnancy terminations, operating outside the country's healthcare regulations and licensing requirements.
Authorities reportedly launched an investigation after receiving intelligence about suspicious activities and an unusually high volume of visitors to the property.
Upon executing a search warrant, officers said they discovered medical equipment, pharmaceutical supplies and records allegedly linking the residence to clandestine medical procedures.
The suspect has been taken into police custody and is facing multiple charges, including allegedly practising medicine without a licence and operating an illegal healthcare facility.
Investigations into the case are ongoing as authorities work to determine the full scope of the alleged operation.
