A Nigerian nurse has shared a video showing the skin reaction one of her colleagues reportedly experienced after receiving lenacapavir, an HIV prevention injection.
Despite sharing the incident, the nurse emphasized that the reaction does not mean everyone who takes the injection will experience the same side effects.
According to her, both she and her roommate also received the injection but did not develop any adverse reactions.
She explained that, like many medications, lenacapavir can cause side effects or uncommon adverse reactions in certain individuals, while others may not experience any problems at all.
The nurse stressed that anyone receiving the injection should do so under the supervision of qualified healthcare professionals who can properly monitor them for any unexpected reactions.
She also advised people who notice unusual symptoms or side effects after taking the injection to immediately report them to the healthcare provider or medical facility where they received it so appropriate care can be provided.
