A 45-year-old Nigerian man, Obinwa Obichukwu, has been sentenced to two years in prison in the United Kingdom after being convicted of sexually assaulting a woman twice near London's Euston train station.
Obichukwu, from Armstrong Close, Hertfordshire, was found guilty on two counts of sexual assault by the British Transport Police (BTP). The offences occurred on the evening of August 20, 2023.
Investigators said Obichukwu approached the woman as she walked toward the station, struck up a conversation about her music, put his arm around her shoulder, and invited her to his home. He then grabbed her hand, repeatedly told her he loved her, and blocked her from entering the station before assaulting her.
He followed her down an escalator and assaulted her again near the ticket barriers. The woman managed to push him away and escape before reporting the incident.
Obichukwu claimed the encounter was consensual, but the jury rejected his defence and convicted him.
Detective Constable Daniel Burke described him as a "sexual predator" who targeted a lone woman, adding that the conviction reflects the force's commitment to tackling violence against women and girls.
He was arrested at his home after the report and has now been sentenced to two years in prison.
