The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation after a man was arrested for allegedly attempting to dispose of the body of a woman in a canal along Monastery Road, Mopo, Ajah.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adebisi Abimbola, the incident occurred on July 14 after security guards reportedly caught the suspect trying to dump the body into the canal and alerted the police.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led officers to the scene, where the suspect was taken into custody. The body of the yet-to-be-identified woman was recovered and moved to the General Hospital Mortuary, Yaba, for preservation and autopsy.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, for a thorough investigation.
Authorities are yet to establish the identity of the deceased or the circumstances surrounding her death.
