Judge Escapes Through Window as Bándits Storm Courtroom

A Shari'ah court judge, Mohammed Muktar, narrowly escaped death or abduction after suspected bandits stormed a courtroom in Gwarjo village, Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Wednesday, July 29, firing sporadically and demanding to know his whereabouts.

According to reports, the gunmen entered the courtroom shooting indiscriminately and repeatedly asked for the judge.

However, Muktar reportedly spotted the attackers from a distance and escaped through a window moments before they arrived.

A resident who witnessed the incident told Daily Trust that the judge's quick thinking saved his life.

"The bandits entered the courtroom, shooting indiscriminately and repeatedly asking where the judge was. Fortunately, he had already escaped through the window, and a commercial motorcyclist helped him flee before they arrived," the resident said.

The source added that after discovering the judge had fled, the attackers became enraged and threatened to kill him if he ever returned to preside over court proceedings in the community.

The state police command is yet to comment on the incident.
