Legal practitioner and human rights activist Liborous Oshoma has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to demonstrate its commitment to accountability by supporting due process in the certificate forgery allegations involving former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji.
Oshoma made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, where he reacted to reports of Nnaji's arrest over the allegations.
During the discussion, he argued that the ruling party has an opportunity to reassure Nigerians that it does not shield members facing serious accusations.
According to Oshoma, the APC should allow the legal process to run its course if it intends to strengthen public confidence in its commitment to transparency and the rule of law.
He stated that taking a clear position on the matter would send a strong signal that allegations of misconduct are treated seriously, irrespective of the individuals involved.
The senior lawyer further noted that how the party responds to the allegations could influence public perception, especially at a time when questions of accountability and integrity remain key issues in national discourse.
He stressed that the party should avoid any action that could create the impression that political affiliation offers protection from investigation or prosecution.
The comments come amid growing public attention following reports of the former minister's arrest.
