In a devastating narrative of his decades-long estrangement from his family, an elderly Nigerian man claims that when his marriage failed, he supported his wife's studies in the UK for years.
The guy described how he brought his wife from Nigeria to the UK in the 1970s and paid for her PhD studies in an emotional interview that went viral online.
The elderly man stated that he travelled to the UK in 1969 after getting married in 1968. He claims that in 1970, his wife moved to the UK with him.
He clarified that his wife was from a low-income family and that he chose to fund her education as an investment in her future.
“I married my wife from a very poor family. I tried to help her and educate her. My life investment was on her,” he said.
The man claimed to have made significant financial contributions to his wife's education, including her PhD program in the UK.
“I paid for three years for her PhD. £11,000 every year,” he said during the interview.
The man disclosed that he had not resided with his family since 1983 throughout the meeting.
He claimed that his wife had made accusations aga!nst him, which resulted in legal action in the UK, when asked why his family had abandoned him.
He said that he was wrongly accused by his wife of having an improper relationship with their 14-year-old daughter.
He said that the accusation ultimately resulted in his deportation to Nigeria.
The old man also mentioned his kids, stating that they haven't contacted him in years.
“She poisoned their mind,” he claimed.
When the interviewer enquired about the alleged daughter, the man said that she was 58 years old and had died years ago.
