Gûnmen K!ll Nigerian Army Colonel, Injûre Wife and Two Others in Suspected abduction Attempt in Abuja


A serving Nigerian Army officer, Colonel Abdussalam Ude, has been killed after gunmen reportedly attacked his residence in the Kurudu area of Abuja in what is believed to have been a suspected abduction attempt.

The attack reportedly occurred on Monday evening shortly after the senior officer returned home from work. According to sources, the gunmen allegedly tried to abduct either the colonel or members of his family. The incident turned violent, resulting in Colonel Ude being fatally shot, while his wife, driver, and security guard sustained gunshot injuries. The three victims were reportedly taken to hospital for treatment.

The exact motive behind the attack has not been officially established, and security agencies, alongside military authorities, have commenced investigations to identify those responsible.

Colonel Ude, who was said to be from Enugu State, served in the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps and held several strategic intelligence and counter-terrorism appointments during his military career.

He reportedly participated in operations against insurgents in Nigeria's North-East and was also deployed on international assignments in the Republic of Chad and France, where he contributed to intelligence and security cooperation.

As of the time of this report, the Nigerian Army had not issued an official statement on the incident, while investigations remain ongoing.
