APC national secretary Basiru gives N66.4m business grants to Osun party members

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, on Wednesday distributed N66.4 million in business support grants to party members across the 332 wards in Osun State.

Speaking during the distribution exercise at Alubarika House, Alekuwodo, Osogbo, Basiru said the initiative aimed to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and promote economic empowerment among members.

According to him, the empowerment programme is designed to encourage party faithful to remain committed and dedicated to the APC ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

“This empowerment is to further encourage our members to continue to work and dedicate themselves to the party, and we believe that with this motivation, our party will emerge victorious on August 15,” he said.

Basiru disclosed that one beneficiary was selected from each of the 332 wards in the state, with each receiving N200,000, bringing the total amount disbursed to N66.4 million.

He urged the beneficiaries to invest the funds in their businesses or trades, cautioning them against using the money for political mobilisation ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The APC scribe also said his Alubarika Movement within the party is fully committed to securing victory for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Munirudeen Oyebamiji (AMBO), in the August 15 election.

“We are committed to delivering the APC and our candidate. We are all working assiduously to ensure the victory of our party in the August 15 election,” Basiru added.

Reacting to a spate of political violence in Osun State ahead of the poll, he enjoined all parties to maintain peace, harping that “Election is about the choice of the people and not about violence. I enjoin all political parties to tow the path of peace. Our party is a party of peace, and we are not in any way involved in any act of violence.”

He admonished security operatives to remain alive to their responsibilities in safeguarding life and property ahead of the election.

He maintained that “In APC, our own tactics and strategy are predicated on mobilisation, education and ensuring that people identify with our party, not violence.

The APC guber candidate in Osun State, AMBO, expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the 2026 governorship election, citing the party’s growing support and grassroots mobilisation across the state.

He stated, “This empowerment by the National Secretary of our party is massive, encouraging, and it is good support that serves humanity. This will go a long way to stabilise our party members.

“I can assure you that with this, it is one of the things we are going to do for our party members; this will encourage them to work very hard, so that come 15th August 2026, APC is going to win that election.”
