Excitement is building across Lagos West Senatorial District as Sen. Idiat Oluranti Adebule (APC-Lagos West) concludes arrangements for the second edition of the Lagos West Women's Assembly and Cash Empowerment Programme, with expectations of an even bigger and more impactful outing following the resounding success of the maiden edition.
The inaugural assembly attracted women from across the 28 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LGs/LCDAs) in Lagos West, alongside top government officials, political leaders and other eminent personalities. It also witnessed the empowerment of 250 women, while two mini-buses and other valuable prizes were won through raffle draws, making it one of the most remarkable women-focused empowerment initiatives in the district.
Building on that momentum, this year's edition, themed "From Voice to Action: Empowering Women for Impact," will hold on Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Blue Roof Pavilion, LTV 8, Ikeja, where women from across the senatorial district are expected to converge for another round of inspiration, networking and economic empowerment.
The programme is expected to bring together professionals, entrepreneurs, market women, artisans, community leaders, political stakeholders and women from diverse backgrounds to explore practical pathways for advancing women's participation in leadership, enterprise and community development.
The maiden edition was graced by an array of distinguished personalities, including the Lagos State First Lady, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Remi Hamzat; Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Chief (Dr.) Folashade Tinubu-Ojo; APC National Woman Leader, Dr. Mary Alile-Idele; Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, among other notable dignitaries, underscoring the significance of the initiative.
According to Adebule, the assembly remains a strategic platform for equipping women with the knowledge, support and opportunities needed to translate their voices into meaningful action, strengthen their economic potential and contribute more effectively to nation-building.
Organisers said accreditation would commence at 9:00 a.m., while the main programme would begin at 10:00 a.m., urging participants to arrive early for seamless registration.
With memories of last year's empowerment still fresh, expectations are high that the second edition will further consolidate the assembly's growing reputation as one of Lagos West's flagship platforms for women empowerment and inclusive development.
