Troops of 8 Division, operating under Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have recorded a significant operational success during a clearance offensive against bandits in the Dogon Daji in Dandi LGA of KEBBI STATE.
The operation, conducted on June 14, 2026, saw troops make contact with a group of terrorists in the area. Following a fierce exchange of gunfire, the criminals were overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the troops and forced to flee in disarray.
During the subsequent pursuit and exploitation phase of the operation, troops recovered several items abandoned by the fleeing bandits. The recovered items include one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher tube, several Rocket Propelled Grenades and improvised explosive devices (bombs), two motorcycles used by criminal elements for mobility, a battery charger, as well as other personal belongings.
Sources confirmed that no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.
The latest success underscores the sustained pressure being mounted by security forces against banditry and terrorism across the North-West region. Clearance and exploitation operations are ongoing as troops continue efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of action and restore lasting peace and security to affected communities.
Security authorities have assured residents that offensive operations will continue until all criminal hideouts within the area are dismantled and the perpetrators brought to justice.
