The Whole World Is Watching Osun, And We Must Show Them That We Are Peace-Loving People - Ooni of Ife

According to a report by Punch on Friday, June 19, 2026, he saw a courtesy visit from the leadership of The Imole Campaign Council, the political group in charge of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke's re-election campaign, to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The purpose of the visit was to seek royal blessings before the campaign officially began.

The visit was in keeping with the council's customary interaction with influential state residents in the run-up to the governorship race.

Prof. Wale Oladipo, a former national secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party and current head of the campaign council, claimed that the trip to the monarch was essential in order to gain traditional and spiritual support before beginning extensive electioneering efforts.

Osun State's cultural institutions must be respected, the group said, and traditional leaders must be acknowledged for their role in fostering unity and harmony in political processes.

Included in the group of notable political figures who accompanied Oladipo were Senator Lere Oyewumi (the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate), Kola Adewusi (the Deputy Governor of Osun State), Bamidele Salam (the lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency), and Kolapo Alimi (the Commissioner for Information).

The group reaffirmed their resolve to run a nonviolent, issue-based campaign without resorting to violence once the state's electoral activities get underway.

Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, welcomed the campaign team to his palace in Ile-Ife during their visit. He spoke to the group about the significance of keeping the peace throughout the election time.
