Singer BNXN Says Lagos Is More Expensive Than the United States After Relocation

Nigerian singer Daniel Benson, popularly known as BNXN, has claimed that living in Lagos is more expensive than living in parts of the United States.

The music star made the remarks during a recent TikTok livestream while discussing his experience after relocating to the United States.

According to BNXN, one of the major differences he has observed is the absence of constant demands for money from street beggars and other individuals, a situation he said is common in Lagos despite economic hardships being present in both countries.

“Since I got to the United States, nobody has asked me to give them money. And people are also suffering here,” he said.

The singer argued that the overall cost of living in Lagos is higher than in Los Angeles, particularly when considering daily expenses outside accommodation.

“Lagos is super expensive. It is more expensive than Los Angeles. Aside from housing, every other thing in LA is not expensive,” BNXN stated.

He revealed that he currently pays about $12,000 monthly in rent in the United States but noted that once rent and utility bills are settled, residents are generally free from many of the additional financial pressures commonly experienced in Lagos.

“Here you just pay your rent, and you’re good,” he added.

BNXN’s comments have sparked debate on social media, with some Nigerians agreeing that the rising cost of living has made Lagos increasingly difficult to afford, while others argue that comparing expenses between Nigeria and the United States depends largely on income levels, lifestyle, and location.

The remarks come amid ongoing discussions about inflation, housing costs, and economic pressures affecting residents of major cities across Nigeria.
