Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has def£nded the secvrity eff0rts of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, am!d growing concerns over recent abdvctions in parts of Oyo State.
Speaking on the security situation, Aiyedatiwa said the recent kdnap+pings should not be interpreted as ev!dence that the Oyo State government is negl£cting security.
According to him, Makinde has continued to invest significant resources in combating insecvrity, noting that many of the eff0rts and sacr!fices made by security operatives often go unnot!ced by the public.
“Oyo abdvctions do not mean Seyi Makinde has not been working in terms of secvrity. I spoke with him on the phone a few days ago, and he said he has l0st over 200 Amotekun personnel. It was not in the news because they are act!vely engaging,” Aiyedatiwa said.
The Ondo governor's remarks come amid public 0utrage over recent abdvctions in Oyo State, part!cularly the k!dnapping of schoolchildren and t£achers in the Oriire area of Ogbomoso.
Makinde had recently discl0sed that more than 200 operatives of the Oyo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, had l0st their lives while combating cr!minal activities across the state.
The governor made the revelation while addressing families of abdvcted pupils and teachers, str3ssing the sacr!fices being made by secvrity personnel in the f!ght aga!nst insecvrity.
Aiyedatiwa's comments underscore calls for greater rec⁰gnition of the r!sks faced by security operatives and the need for collective eff0rts to t@ckle kdnap+ping and other secvrity challenges across the South-West region.
